The Strength of a Fish
A teenage girl with a horrifically scarred face and the ghost of her grandmother clinging to her back arrives in the small Zimbabwean town of Pamushana. Her name is Mbuya, and she has returned to face the horrors of her past and find those responsible.
Roo is the daughter of a struggling local farmer, preoccupied with the care of her disabled sister and fighting the bad luck that seems to dog the family. When Mbuya’s arrival sets off a chain of disastrous events, Roo will do anything to keep the farm afloat and her family safe.
These two girls are connected and haunted by an atrocity neither suspects, but which has tainted both their lives nevertheless. When their paths cross, the ghosts of the past rise up and threaten to destroy them both.
