Bookshelves and Kids’ Rooms

It has been cold and rainy all week here in central Texas, and I DO NOT LIKE IT. Well, I don’t mind the cold, but I struggle with rainy, grey days when they go on for too long. It sets my brain weasels to spinning (brain weasels are nocturnal and don’t like the light). It might be time to rummage in the shed and get my SAD-fighting daylight lamp out again to help send those brain weasels back into hiding and avoid more, “I DON’T KNOW WHY I’M CRYING,” incidents.

Anyway. I’ve been thinking about fun kids’ bookshelves. I love fairy doors and miniatures, and I love this idea of making a little house from books and setting a door in the side of the shelf. And these book/dollhouse combos! A book village! Now I want to write a story set on a bookshelf. Hmm…

I mean, imagine a children’s picture book set in the town in that last image.

And this tree-shelf is so cute!

I have a rainbow-colored picture-book display from my old classroom that I will use for our kid, but this would be fun, too. I can’t wait to shelve all my favorite childhood reads in my son or daughter’s room and imagine how much fun we’ll have rediscovering them all together.

Dreaming about kids’ rooms is so much fun!
